Smile Hola from Puerto Morelos, Mexico!

Hola Everybody!

We are having a fantastic time here in Mexico. We've been here 2 weeks, 1 week to go, 3 weeks til we land in Oz. Our days consist pretty much of walking on the beach, swimming in the sea and the pool, walking round the town, chatting with locals and US and Canadian expats. The girls are having a fantastic time playing with the Mexican kids, it is so family orientated here, everyone loves the girls and wants to know all about them, they touch them and hug them. Elloise gets minutely investigated as they have never seen anyone with such red hair and white skin!

There is a very elderly play park here which has none of the safety features of those in the UK, so we have to keep a close eye. The girls love it, there’s no baby swings so they have had to learn how to swing on big swings.

Everyone looks out for each others kids here. A couple of times where one of our two (normally Candice!) have looked like they might be in danger, about to jump in the pool or run in the road, the Mexicans have been ready to catch them or step in the road to stop the traffic.

The lifestyle here is so relaxing, and we’re not bored in the slightest. We have met so many lovely people. Some of the units in the condo block are occupied by expats who live here, we spent a lot of time too with a lovely family from California, the girls loved all the attention. They very kindly took us to a crocodile zoo, Ellie surprised us by being the brave one wanting to touch the crocodiles, snakes and she even fed a monkey a banana. Both the girls have become much more confident in the water, both the sea and the pool. Candice is a little overconfident and loves jumping in the pool forwards backwards and sideways. They both love making sandcastles. Candice is speaking some Spanish. She runs after dogs on the beach shouting “El Perro!, El Perro!” She also says “Adios” but gets “Hello” and “Hola” confused! Candice has become addicted to the bar next to our place and always wants to in to sit up on the bar stools and have a cup of water!

The weather is very warm although there is the occasional torrential rain storm which lasts 20 minutes or so, then the sun comes out again. It is hurricane season here on the Mexican Riviera but no sign of one yet. We find ourselves hoping it will be overcast as we can do more with the girls out of direct sunlight.

I've found a fantastic cenote (fresh water upwelling in the sea) for snorkelling and goes there to watch a massive grouper fish and other fish. I have also been diving, the water is very warm, no jacket required!

We went with the family from California to watch a fantastic live band in the bar next door. After about three songs there was a power cut and the drummer immediately went in to a blinding drum solo in the pitch black until power was restored. We reckoned that probably happens quite regularly!

We are doing almost all our own catering, although we have been out twice so far, last night we dined at “Ola Asia” where we have the most delicious Indonesian and Thai food, the fish was fresh off the boat that day.

We are able to speak to the girls Grandfather in the UK on the internet webcam regularly which everyone enjoys.

Today we are going out to lunch with Canadian expats who live here, to a restaurant on the beach which is recommended as serving authentic Mexican food. Tomorrow we will be with a family from Colorado who are staying nearby, they also have young kids.

Here's a few photos -

At the local playground -

At the local bar with Californian family -

Our next update will probably be from Los Angeles, we fly there this coming Friday.

Hasta Luego!

The Buzzy family.

You sure you're not going to become expats in Mexico and forget the next flight?
