Why bother, Queensland students are apparently to be issued with "cheat sheets" for exams to get the education standard up from the basement.

Bloody annoying that isn't it, my daughter had the same thing happen to her at school. She asked her dad what the question she was asked meant and then went away and found out the answer for herself. I do feel schools these days should just hand the answers out on a sheet. Making them think for themselves is just a really silly idea in this day and age.

My son's seven and despite being year 1 (school year just ended) and in a combined year 1 and 2 class - he was top of the class on reading and near top on maths, art etc. He has had his own computer for two years, on which he makes flyers for his cubby, or Zac Power posters or (as yesterday) a card game he invented. Learning to use a computer has bugger all to do with 'the basics' which kids will learn at school anyway. Bit disengenuos to say 'they ain't getting near a computer' anyway - since they're certainly using them at school - unless you've sent 'em to a Steiner or something.

My point was that computers aren't the holy grail of learning. I'm actually a bit annoyed that the ABC learning centre that our kids use have PCs and headphones that the kids sit and play with.

THEY ARE 3 YEARS OLD AND 2 YEARS OLD FOR GAWDS SAKE, lay off the tech. Play with toys and dollies and wooden train sets and teddies and sandpits etc.

Tech is for teenagers, let kids be kids
