ponting dobbing has deflected a lot of attention away from his teams antics,(though you are correct some of the press are discussing it)
Australia did not play within the spirit of the game any true cricket fan would agree!

Current poll results from the Australian Telegraph.
Is Harbhajan Singh's three-match ban too severe?
Yes, Symonds should have taken it on the chin. 61% (5711 votes)
No, racism can't be tolerated in any situation. 38% (3506 votes)

I think it's all turned into a right farce.
I also think the Indians are making themselves look pretty stupid. It seems to be a case of give us what we want, or we're gonna sulk. So them saying their 'reputation' is on the line is pretty funny because from where I'm standing they are making it worse all by themselves.
And I did see Symonds say 'Don't call me a Monkey' BEFORE anything was reported - so I think he did say something. Whether it should have been reported and go this far is another matter.
The umpiring decisions, well there's bad ones and good ones - that's the nature of the game and you think that ALL cricketers would be used to it by now.
There were lots of bad decisions in the Ashes when it was in England, the game could have had a totally different outcome had it not, then again it might have made no difference - but that's the way the cookie crumbles isn't it.
I say they should all just get over it and move on

If the incident boils down to Roy's word against Harbhajan's with no witnesses, as appears to be the case then the cricket authorities have to let it go as unproven at the appeal.
It appears that any ban will be lifted pending the outcome of an appeal so I would have thought the tour will continue.

it is, from what i have heard/read. if it is, then nothing can be proved. the ban shouldnt have been given, get on the the bloody game for gawds sake.
i have my own opinion on this, and yes it does coincide with some others who have posted on here. they dont like it up 'em, so to speak

I think it's great that "one racist remark" as you put it is jumped on - there is no room for racism in any part of life.
As for sledging, personally I cant understand why sportsmen cant just play the game and win using their talent rather than trying to wind people up.
Yes, there were quite a few dodgy umpiring decisions - not sure why they dont just refer to the 3rd ump if they're not sure?

I think this was just the last straw for him.
I'm waiting to see what happens, I was going to day 3, the company I work for sponsors the event

Re: Harbhajan Singh 3 match ban - hypocrisy??
The crowd in India during the one day series (in October) made big point of calling Symonds a monkey - complete with chants and waving placards. Harbhajan also called Symonds a monkey during play.
When Australia complained the Indian authorities initially tried to make out the crowd were just praying to the monkey god (or something similarly ludicrous). They backed down when videos of the crowd were viewed and it was clear that they were racist chants. Apparantly some kind of deal was cooked up at the time, to the effect that Australia would not proceed with the complaint this time - as long as similar behaviour never occurred again. Harbhajan supposedly apologised and shook hands with Symonds over the deal.
So what happens as soon as they get to Australia? Harbhajan does it again. Not suprised that Ponting complained - or that they've come down on Harbhajan like a ton of bricks. He deserves it.
