I like it, but wouldn't say it's nectar of the gods....

Beer has that title ;):D

Not obsessed with it or with pumpkin like most Ozzies but I do love it - especially slow roasted in its skin with a bit of balsamic.
Give me a glass of red wine for nectar

Re: The Great Beetroot Debate

Prefer it boiled, rather than pickled ....but wish it wasn't automatically put on burgers ...just so I can dribble it down my white top

I know I can request for none...but ususally forget

Re: The Great Beetroot Debate

I've lived here for a year, and I've never had beetroot put on anything.

The Aussies up in QLD, must be just weird :p

Oops, must be just South Australians that aren't weird then :D

Re: The Great Beetroot Debate

My option isn't there. I love it with a roast dinner; pickled or better still roasted. But I hate it on a burger, in a salad...

Us Victorians are very weird :)

Re: The Great Beetroot Debate

It's growing on me - I used to hate it but my Aussie OH has been trying to introduce it gradually. I quite like it in a salad with goats cheese. But on a burger it's just wrong.

I like it. I don't seem to get it in my food as often as other people on here seem to. Obviously more often than in the UK but still rare enough that I notice when it's there.

:)

I buy it pickled from the English shop along with pickled red cabbage to have with my Lancashire Hotpot and my Cottage Pie. How northern of me :D

Me too! We had a fry up on Sunday for the first time in a couple of years and it was the one thing missing.

I have had it as a dessert a couple of times in the past which works surprisingly well.

I bought some from the butchers at Currambine. It wasn't the same as good old english stuff but it was OK.

I love it, I made a beetroot coleslaw the other day, it was scrumy.

My Taid used to make me a beetroot chutney.

I eat it out of the tin, in fish burgers, salads etc....

Quite successfully too! Just imagine, strapped on the rack, with a mad Spaniard threatening to feed you slices of the stuff until you told him all your innermost thoughts....I know what I'd do

Or even worse......threaten you with the mixture of beetroot juice and Praise mayonnaise.....more lethal than indelible ink, and less palatable
