Beer has that title ;):D

I share your sentiments but given the poll's options, had no choice other than to vote 'nectar of the gods'. I'm very fond of beetroot in salad rolls, hamburgers and on dressed pies.

Give me a glass of red wine for nectar

Pumpkin too ? :(

'mmmmm beetroot reminds me of my grandparents , they used to use a pressure cooker and cook loads, then I used to sit and eat it on it's own warm - takes me back does that, much better freshly cooked than pickled.

Not read any of the replies simply because the very word makes me heave. I don't even like picking up the tin. Hubby used to grow his own and I'd have to go out for the day when he and the girls would harvest it, boil it - vomit - and pickle it - vomit again. If he hadn't cleared up completely by the time I got home, I'd go out again and get myself a takeaway. A tinge of pink is all it takes for me to lose my stomach.

Thanks Poll. I now feel queasy:mad:

Firm yet wet and slightly salty
A cleanly taste thats sweet not malty,
It truly melts upon the tongue
But note some red in pee and dung!

Nicky

I always make dinner during the day, so by the time the kids get home they can have their tea, otherwise they winge and end up eating something they shouldn't.

Today it was roast chicken, carrots, cabbage, green beans, garlic mushrooms, sweet potato mash and gravy. I had a tinsy bowl of mash and gravy, cos I was having spicy pasta when Mr.Ransi got home.

we eat good food but it''s all so boring sometimes....must have eaten twenty tones of potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, stew, spag bol, chilli, roasts, blah blah blah...my husband does most of the cooking as he gets home before me... we all hate celery... and strange as it is.... my husband makes a point that i always have beetroot in the cupboard... my retort is.. "well you don't know when you might have guests".. can't have enough tins of beetroot in the cupboard.. or salmon...or pineapple and carnation milk.... just in case we have guests!!!!!!!know what i mean!!!!!
