Just had confirmation..as of the 5th May 2008, I will be commencing employment with Queensland Rail National, as a Trainee Freight Train Driver in Mackay!!! I have accepted and am currently very, very happy!
It has only taken a year to get this job but I am so chuffed - the process was pretty tough to say the least!
So..............waddya know about Mackay? Was gonna visit this weekend but have been reliably informed that most of it is currently underwater!
Luckily my initial training is largely in Brisbane so the missus doesnt need to upsticks til August - I will just commute til then (half and half Bris and Mackay) - after that we will up sticks and move north for good!
Time to celebrate

I'll be getting all the suicidal maniacs throwing themselves in front of me instead! Interestingly, I have had to sign a piece of paper saying that I accept that this may happen and that it is a part of the job!
