Have finished The Land of Painted Caves by Jean Auel, I loved the rest of the series but this was was oh so disappointing, really just a re-hash of the others but I had to finish it just to see where it would end.

Read Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris, the latest Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) book, it was good but they are always over too quickly.

Read Still Alice by Lisa Genova, wonderful wonderful book, but be warned by the end you will have yourself convinced that you have Early Onset Alzheimers, oh and keep the tissues handy.

Am reading Toys by James Patterson but it's on hubby's Kindle so only get to read it when he isn't using it.

Haven't read it for a good while, but herbert always did send shivers down my spine. I met him when I lived in Brighton, he used to get his books in Waterstones (or Websters as it was then) when I worked there - he lived just outside Brighton
Really nice gentle man, ever so quiet, small, dark-haired man, used to siddle in quietly and try and escape unnoticed. He always hated it if we had a display of nis books when he came in cos it meant his picture would be everywhere and he would be spotted by the public :D

That was a peculiar book to say the least :D

After watching Aftermath on the telly and discovering it was based on a book, I have invested in the entire backlog of works by Peter Robinson. (You just have to love Amazon and free delivery!) I've read the first two and they're very good - if you like the R D Wingfield Inspector Frost books you will like these. What makes them even better is that they're based in North Yorkshire, they make me feel all nostalgic :)

:lol: I know. I do enjoy horror, but if I get the feeling a certain book is just too scary, then I'll drop it.

IT/Stephen King being a fine example. :ohmy::unsure:

Currently reading Loung Ung's "First They Killed My Father". It's the true story of a 5 year old girl living a priviledged life in Cambodia when the Khmer Rouge came into power in the 1970's.

I have just finished Tandia by Bryce Courtenay. It was a great read although very disturbing at times! My daughter often asks me what the book I'm reading is about and for the first time for the early part of the book, I really just couldn't tell her, I just said it really wasn't very nice grown up stuff. This probably really puzzled her because later in the book when it gets into full flow about the regime in South Africa at the time, I was quite happy to talk to her about apartheid!

My plan was to now read a Robin Hobb book but YoungSOB has persuaded me to reread The Hobbit as I said to her a while ago that I would need to reread it so I could check that she is at a good age for it, I don't want her to read it too soon and then not enjoy it just because it's a bit beyond her. I haven't read it for a long long time, so I'm quite happy with the arrangement!
