Going on a holiday to the UK and Ireland
#16
The Lincolnshire Wolds are beautiful and largely unknown - people tend to think of Lincolshire as just flat but it isn't - also birthplace of Sir John Franklin, Isaac Newton, Lord Tennyson to name a few. Nice places to visit are Louth, Horncastle (good for antique hunters) Old Lincoln (beware of Steep Hill
) and some quieter coastal areas would be between Skegness and Mablethorpe. If you or your folks are into birds, Gibraltar Point is good.

Agree Bath is beautiful, close to the Cheddar Gorge and the drive from Bath on the A46 in the evening will give you some stunning sunsets.
Then up to the Forest of Dean, across to the Peak District then follow the M1/A1 up the northeast towards Edinburgh, up to the Scottish highlands back down towards Glasgow, then travel across the north of Wales to Holyhead and grab the ferry to Dun Laoghaire.
In Ireland I recommend the Ring of Kerry, but be warned, it gets very busy and the road is a tad 'hairy'
But the view from the mountains across the valley to Killarney is stunning. Also Muckross House in Killarney is lovely
And we like to go on a boat trip to see Funghi the dolphin when we go to Dingle
There is a fabulous little B&B just outside Blarney

And in Blarney village itself, there is a lovely little restaurant that does marvellous mussels
Travelling back up towards Dublin you can visit the National Stud and there is a lovely little Japanese garden there - 'twas most romantic when hubby and I were courting

Dublin itself is great, but I wasn't overly impressed with the Guiness factory, so unless you are a big fan, I wouldn't bother.
Have a fun trip!

IMHO though the scenery around that whole area is stunning.
