I've rarely gone to bed before midnight at anytime of my life irrespective of work start time.

For many years I survived on 4-6 hours sleep.

We kept getting kicked out of places when we first came over, the only places open late (by that I mean after 10pm), around here are nightclubs where it's plastic cups after 11pm and if your skirt covers your bum when walking you are too old to go in there for girls and for blokes if you can shave more than bumfluff you are too old!
now we know we can't stay out later than 10pm so we then go back to someones house afterwards.

mind we get up early too the OH goes for a run then a swim in the sea at 5 am

God that's hard core.

Many years ago, as a young innocent in Cadaque (Spain) I went for a walk about 11pm and asked a restaurant if they were still serving. The reply was 'the chef starts in half an hour' - I'd just assumed they'd all closed down as i'd never seen anything open. Eating at midnight? Subversive nutters.

I go bed late and wake up at 7am, I have the shutters halfway down on the window and wake up naturally at that time.

I go to bed when I choose to and have no desire to be out till late anyway, Freo usually has something open quite late if we want it.

When did I get so old?
I am in the same boat as you Dorothy, up at 5am and out with the dogs. Chooks and ducks to feed and then hitting the road by 7am for an 8am start. I just love the early mornings and if I can sneak off to bed before 8pm, I am gone. The weekends I get a lay in. 6am start but the dogs will wake me up from about 5am onwards so quality sleep to 6am is not an option
