Just over a year ago any person from NZ that had a reference from a company in NZ stating that that had worked in the industry for a minimum of 3 years, they were able to pay a few hundred dollars to take a test over the weekend to prove there compitance, they would then be granted all the appropriate licenses. It wasnt until most NZ person were using the same reference and reference letter that this pathway was removed.

I know if I was in there boots I would have done the same, but its done me no favours right now and left me virtually unemployable in my trade even so I'm skilled and in need.

Can you try your hand at something else, or are you stuck on one of those visas that you have to do what you are trained for? Not being sarky, but just exploring other alternatives to give you an income.

Its a thought atm, but I did come to this country to sub contract doing a trade which is in my blood and a trade to which immigration let me into the country to do.Maybe I need a specialist lawyer in immigration but im skint

Jeez, don't waste your money... I mean that in the nicest possible way...

Look, the reality as I find it is that they want certain people with certain talents/trades etc for the visa process.. but when you get here it is a different ball game.. I hope, to god, that you find what you need to stay, but I do say to you, don't write off anything.. if something else is your calling over this side of the world then perhaps consider it,atleast...

If you can (visa wise)I would definately just pick up any work thats going.There's quite abit of work in farming right now and you might be lucky to get free accomo thrown in.I know of one place in my old home town that is always looking for people,pay is'nt that great but hey its a job!pm me if you want details. Thanks 4 the offer and maybe a few years ago not unmarried and without 4 kids id probably jumped at it, but its my trade I want to do, I would have probably never moved to Oz if I'd know all I know now.

Hi Ron,
Until recently my brother worked for a company in Melbourne called Spectrum.

He was a project manager there and before that worked for the same company in the Brisbane office before relocating down to Melbourne.
He's not there now but works for another fire company. Unfortunately I don't know the name of this new company and as he's working away this week I can't get hold of him to find out the name, but I've just spoken to my SIL for you and she'll ask him for the names of some companies for you. As soon as I hear back from her I'll let you know the details.
In the meantime, maybe you could try Spectrum and see what they say.

Spectrum don't have any jobs going anywhere in Australia supposively, but again they said no licenses no work, but it would be great for any companies details.

Just had a phone call from Dr Bruce Flegg office, he is the Shadow Minister for Education and Training, maybe just maybe all my emails to the goverment asking for help might be working
