The HMAS Sydney was a battleship. Was it indestructable?...er no. Once again more 'holes' in your debate.
Admit it you were wrong, like your views on climate change.

A Battleship is a different class of ship altogether. They were defined by size and tonnage at the Washington Conference of 1921. The USA cleverly stripped the UK of its naval superiority by limiting the size of Battleships in the royal Navy. The Germans were also restricted to no Battleships at all, and so built the famous “Pocket Battleships†which were under the legal tonnage.
HMAS Sydney was sunk by the Auxiliary Cruiser Kormeran, which had disguised itself as the Dutch merchant ship Straat Malakka and was flying a Dutch merchant marine flag.
Rather like using fake data to sink Western industry and standards of living really.

Wrong? You jest surely?

slapphead - re. the guy you think was a Greenpeace member - what's your definition of member? Employee? Supporter?
#366
I wish I hadn’t mentioned Greenpeace, as it is in danger of being used to deviate the discussion into pointless avenues. I am reasonable confident that one of the pair of wankers was mentioned as having a connection with GP at the time. But it is irrelevant to this discussion.
Leah is of course fully entitled to say whatever she likes, back in her school debating society or whatever. The issue here is:
1. She ISNT AN EXPERT. Do you agree?????? (a simple yes/no will suffice)
2. She is presenting at a global conference which is being sold to the public as the most important event of the last 50 years. Do you agree (again Y/N will do)
3. Any information Leah has will have been given to her by others. (Y/N)
4. If a lay person with concerns about something that they have no expertise about is allowed to present, then should someone with opposite views be allowed to present (again ……)
The general public will come away with the idea that Copenhagen was a massive gathering of experts with vast knowledge on the subject. The truth is at least one is a Student activist who known F all about the subject. SHE AINT A CLIMATE SCIENTIST.

You brought it up but now you're possibly wrong, it's irrelevant?
Is your patronising Yes/No mallarkey is aimed at me? And WHY ARE YOU RESORTING TO SHOUTING?

No I have calmed down slightly, let me answer the point a little more rationally.
I hold several degrees that are used by people working in the field of climatology – however I am NOT a climatologist. It does however give me the ability to understand some of the arguments.
However when I post anything that even suggests AGW is unproven (note the word unproven, not “does not existâ€, or “is not importantâ€) I am howled down with comments about “cut and pasteâ€, and “what do you knowâ€.
But when some student gets up at Copenhagen and has a bit of a weepy moment you post her on the site and take her words at face value.
At least be fair about this lads. If some Fijian teen can spout on about what she has read on the internet so can I.

David Burgess is a film-maker and environmentalist who has been active in anti-logging protests, facing bulldozers in several New South Wales forests and in Papua New Guinea.
I would be prepared to say his is a member of, or support of, or is aligned with the views of Greenpeace.
does this resolve the Burgess issue?

I'm afraid that's what so much of the Great General Public's "debate" on posited climate change has become.
The movie that was shown and which has been repeated over and over on news bulletins shows how much politicians think no further than showbiz.
I see that Clover Moore has taken some Sydney council officials to CPH to help save the planet. They *really* don't get it, do they?

Well personally, matey, I didn't say you couldn't, and losing your cool does not make your arguments any more valid.
As far as the degrees go - I don't have one, never mind several in a related field, but I have opinions just as valid as yours. Opinions are all they are after all.
As far as I am aware, Greenpeace doesn't have members - at least not in the way you mean. He may be a supporter, financial or otherwise, but if he has been involved in activities he will have done so entirely on a voluntary basis.

Degrees arn't worth the paper they are printed on in my opinion. Opinions are all valid, and I fully support everyone to look at this situation with an open and enquiring mind. We must get this right, there is too much at risk all ways round, which is why I am advocating both sides of the argument.
I also take your point re Greenpeace, presumably its to avoid the entire organisation being sued off the face of the earth each time it commits criminal acts.

Apology accepted.
As to the youth delegates at Copenhagen, I think we should be proud that some of today's youths are interested in more than making loadsa money and driving flash cars, unlike most of their parents at a similar age.
