I've got to admit, I'd be loath to buy anything larger than a Camera without seeing it in action first.

Largest thing Ive bought of the net unseen would be a Kogan internet radio.

So whats the largest thing people that are interested in this thread have bought online ?

I bought a Toshiba 42" TV about 3 years ago on Amazon.co.uk. The reviews gave me enough information and when it arrived it was just how the reviews described it. That TV followed me to Australia and and I'm watching it right now. **** Gerry - overpriced with clueless staff - the man is stuck in a time warp

I would have totally agreed with you even upto 12 months ago.... but now they price match... undercut even and I'm talking net prices.

I've been one of the biggest critics of HN on these boards in the past.... but instore they really have upped their act.

You mean they've sacked all the morons and employed intelligent, pleasant, skilled helpful people?

Gerry has to get a reality check: whingeing on about personal imports and how they don't pay GST ignores the fact that they are usually WAY cheaper - WAY WAY cheaper.

I have just ordered a top-of-the-range Braun shaver from Amazon: including delivery it's AU$167. The retail price here is AU$599.

OK, you can get a discount on that but nothing getting in the same ballpark.

Way worse. Tech community will not touch hn.

What Gerry forgot is that the net let's people compare price and service.

Can only speak for the shops around here. HN and Clive Anthony employ ****wits. Good Guys (not South Tweed) and what was Clive Peeters (now HN not been in since), Dick Smith are good.

My washing machine broke down on Thursday morning which in my house is classed as a full on disaster, the machine had been on it's last legs for a while so it's dramatic death wasn't a surprise.

I don't have time to troll around the shops on a Saturday so I went to www.appliancesonline.com, found a washing machine I wanted that was cheaper than all the other sites and ordered it for delivery yesterday. They - the drivers arrived on time after phoning me twice to tell me where I was in the delivery schedule, they took the old machine away, they installed the new one and took away all the packaging.....so a new machine in less than a day.... perfect. Delivery by the way was free...

Until Gerry can beat that he is never going to get any of my $$$ again.... he just had it too good for too long.....

Now my son has got into electronics (think components and soldering) I can see why some say it has gone downhill. DS used to be an electronics geeks paradise.

Is Bing Lee NSW only? Staff seem more attentive. For knowledge I use the web and have lost faith in the store incentive offers around. They are usually there to dump unwanted stock.

NSW only but they're not in Tweed or Ballina, I don't go further south than that. :D

Think Jaycar, Farnell, Maplin. There are hobbies where you have to solder yourself and it is fun.

Without big noting myself I'm very used to knowing more about the media goods at least, than any of the shop people. So I tend to overlook that failing. I shop 100 pct on price only as I generally know what I'm after. As long as they are freindly and willing to knock the price down I'm happy.
