Yes, we had the pork pie thing too! We weren't allowed to pass a farm shop without turning in "just to see what they've got"....
........ and coming out laden down with meat products! It was very funny.

That's what he said. He's never really been responsible for the shopping before, but as he lives there by himself, he has to do his own and was oooing and aahhing even in Waitrose about how cheap it was!
I must just be used to it now....

How much salt do they put in sausages here? More than they do meat.

On one trip to see my relatives in Lincolnshire, home of the best pork products in the UK, I told them I was going into town to buy some sausages. There was such a great choice at the butcher's, I just couldn't make up my mind, so I just got some of everything
. My relatives couldn't believe their eyes when I staggered in with a 5kg bag of all these varieties. Thankfully there were a few of us to work on the mountain of bangers over the next few days. Fantastic they were too

Our butcher does pork and apple. They're nice.
However, they weren't very coarse, which is a bit more British I think, so I asked him if he'd do me a custom order. I now have a freezer full of coarse pork and apple sausages.
If you buy enough, they'll custom make them.
We also had Aldi's sausages the other day - cumberland ones. They were good. Not peppery enough, but pretty good.

Talking of sausages, when I lived in the UK I got used to the pre-packaged meals of Bangers and Mash with Gravy, bloomin' lovely they were!
I especially loved the Co-op ones.
I have never seen these meals here, but last week I found a frozen Bangers and Mash by McCain.........it was bloomin' HORRID!!!!!
The "sausages" were rubbery and tasteless and the mash was very sloppy.

Anyone in Perth needs to get some sausages from Mondo's on Beaufort street in Inglewood.
Superb is all that I can say.

To anyone reading this from the UK, specifically london:
At London Bridge station there was a stall that sold gourmet sausages. They were superb. Lamb and mint. Steak and guiness. Duck and orange was another tasty one.
Is the stall still there ?
