Coles is just around the corner though, too convenient.

Our local IGA is a lot more expensive than Coles, seems to be anyway.

Eat Pizza.

Dominos Pizza $6. One each at lunchtime and one each in evening = $24 a day, times 7 days = $168. Net saving $82 a week or $4264 a year

Not sure if you have Aldi's in Perth? I am just about to start doing as much of my weekly shop there as I can as I am fed up with trying to cut down and economise each week and the stupid shopping bill stays the same or gets higher :curse:

We find food here in the UK expensive as well, so we do what our parents used to do and have a cooking day. On a sunday, we cook loads of fresh stuff such as big rice dishes, soups and things and that last most of the week. By combining that with never using a supermarket, we keep costs down and its fun - open a bottle of wine and do it all together. Tastes better than supermarket crap as well

In the UK, bearing in mind we only left 4 weeks ago, we spent maximum 150 pounds a week including beer. In Perth, watching what we are spending as well, we are easily spending well over 200 quid a week.

Knew it would be more expensive here but it is shocking us just how expensive, good job we both got decent pay rises!

Checking out Midland Market this weekend, have been recommended it.

Our last weekly bill over here was 145 (including wine beer and voddy)theres 6 of us,what do you spend 150 Quid on for 2.reading the threads regarding cost living is worrying me as we have 4 sproggers to feed, suppose we'll have to cut our cloth accordingly, a little hunger never hurt anyone I need my beer!! seriously though we are quite concerned about the cost of things

I'm really not sure what your are doing to spend $500 a week. I have a family of four and we eat well and I doubt we spend more than $250 on average (exlcuding alcohol).

$500 a week is $70 a day. I can buy top notch Sirloin steaks from the fancy butchers at $10 each and would still struggle to spend $70 in a day.

200 POUNDS a week!!!!!!! I thought your original post said 200 dollars which would have seemed pretty average to me. Goodness only knows what your buying to spend 200 pounds Although, don't forget when you first arrive that you have to stock up on the staple things that are not on your average weekly shop - herbs and spices, baking ingredients, the general jams and stuff that sit at the back of your larder for months on end until they run out of date
