Fly count.... not so many this year
#1
Just wondered where all the flies had gone this year. Usually there are that many around in February in Melbourne that it's uncomfortable to go outside on a warm day. This year there seem to be hardly any, in fact whilst mowing just now I hardly got bothered at all, whilst in the past I've had to give up or put a net hat on.
So where have they gone, are there more where you live ? Lets see if we can map the buggers.

they have come down to the peninsula
this is my 3rd year here and down the beach has been unbearable , so much so that i have stopped going down there
this has been by far the worst year for flies that i have experienced here

Wonder if the floods/rain had anything to do with it?

I wonder which City is the worst affected by Flies, Never been bothered by them in Sydney I must admit.

They're all up here!
Usually its noticeable that we don't get many flies in the Highlands - but this year there have been many more than we are used to.
Persistent little sods, too.........

It might be humid here, but we don't get any flies to speak of.

It's been a damn fly free bonus for us this year. With regards to Mossies I have one of those Yard Guard gizmos turned on 24/7 for 7 months of every year. People claim they dont work, they seem to for me.
As far as I'm concerned Flies and Mozzies or annoying flying inspects are the worst aspect of Australia.

Mozzies need the heat and some calm conditions and also a bit of wet, so pretty much ideal conditions. Making up for last years cold effort of a summer when there weren't so many around.

No flies this year. I would say it's only a few days a year you really notice it.
Not week in, week out.
