Thanks for replying to the email, I agree the labour costs look a tad high.
I'll call them to sharpen their pencil..

Wow! what a reply! thanks very, very much.
It's great to have some completely impartial advice as the only people we've really been able to speak to regarding this is the very people trying to sell the flooring to us.
The slab will have been down for about six or seven months by the time the floor is laid, so using your 'one month per inch' rule we should be OK (in fact, I've heard that here in WA one of the greater problems is the concrete drying out too quickly if it's poured in hot weather).
As far a moisture tests go, many of the suppliers we've spoken to say they do a moisture test, and most of the quotes we've had include the moisture barrier so it's obviously something they must consider with every installation. I guess the usual problem is some of the so called 'tradesmen' doing a half arsed job or trying to pull the wool over the customers eyes.
It helps so much to be armed with information when doing something like this, as it often allows you to identify the suppliers that don't know thier stuff.
Thanks once again.

<snip>We really love bamboo florring but have done abit of research which says you have to be very caredul as certain types can warp, and there are a whole host of lawsuits pending with people who have been caught out. Now this could be a load of nonsense but as you can imagine we are bit reluctant to go ahead without consulting somone who has had flooring installed and can advise us.
Is there anyone out there who can highly reccomend a company who deals with grade A bamboo and who are trustworthy?

We have placed an order with this company, they're in your neck of the woods [grass] for bamboo:
Bamboo Company
Bamboo Company
Thanks for the advice on labour costs SteMajor difference is that he uses the floating floor method which allows for expansion and contraction [methinks thats much better than primer and glue and laying it directly onto concrete]
Decided to go up to his abode today to investigate 'cause the value had to be seen to be believed, plus the website looked amateurish but content was excellent and upon arrival was overcome by so many different types of bamboo being grown in the 130 acres, very seductive and serene....place was a bit run down but a really nice bloke and was satisfied to place the order his way.
On the way back South had a wee detour at Mooloolaba [rolls off the tongue] followed by a coffee and muffin and a bit of people watching as you do.
First visit to Mooloolaba and must go oop north more often, any of you lot live a charmed life around these parts?

We had our bamboo floor fitted by a company BLT FLOORING. North of River in perth. This guy suppiles and fits the floor and was much cheaper than other quotes. We are delighted with results and would highly recommend! Contact me if you would like his details!
