The Flag

The flag does not need to change when Australia becomes a republic. The flag is heavily symbolic of Australian identity and a change is both unnecessary and dangerous. And change will be pushed for by the same kind of idiots that have just spent the last 10 years destroying Britain.

If you look at my signature, you'll see my preference for a new Australian flag.

I'm an Australian, and I love the current flag.
My problem is that WHEN we become a republic I don't think it's right to have a Union Jack in it.
But goodness, the alternatives presented in 'hypothetical' new flag polls over the years have been shocking.
If changing the flag means we end up with something that's orange and black and has a kangaroo hopping across it....then I'm all for keeping the Union Jack.
(Though, if we did get something orange and black with a kangaroo, New Zealand would have a considerably harder time copying it this time around.
