Definitely poor as I have some money to keep us and can send him out to work anyway. Obese no way. Like another poster said I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut when they ate, particularly about what they were eating and volume.

I'll let on to a personal situation that is rare for me. My 19yo daughter is or is very close to obese. She's the one studying electrical engineering. Well we had a situation this week where she had to go to court and face interrogation re a statement she made in an assault case... she tied the defence lawyer up in knots, in a off the the top of head, ad libbing brilliant tirade of clear recollection and comment and generally amazed everyone in the court room... especially the prosecution lawyers who have kept a video of her video evidence, and were raving about her "incredible performance" I think they want to offer her a career. She can add "owning" on first meeting a defence Lawyer in a fully charged court situation to her portfolio of life experience now.

Reason I'm saying the above, is my Daughter has dozens of friends, never short of a boy friend, is bright bubbly, life of the party type of person. If they are obese and intelligent then that seems to be no handicap for anyone.... Further more we've also had her oldest sister who had weight problems that we did use to comment on, who turned anorexic....

I honestly now believe there is no worse condition that I've encountered and I mean ANY condition, than anorexia.

So be careful please when dealing and being around people that are seemingly obese... and drop the preconceived ideas please.

She has stated to us many times that when she is ready, she will deal with her weight issue.

Obesity is not the best but there are women who carry it well.
My friend does. She has a gorgeous smile and eyes and you never notice the little tummy.

I think part of all this is what is fat - you can be overweight and still have a good silhouette...

But overweight and obese are not the same. A little chubbiness wouldn't put me off, but I'd have a hard job being physically attracted to someone who was morbidly obese and who had all the health problems that carrying around the equivalent of an extra person in great hanging folds of fat that reached to their knees causes and who required you to clean them because they couldn't reach all the crevices. I could be a friend, but not a sexual partner.

I've been poor- my mum often went without so that we could eat, dad couldn't afford a car, and all our clothes were hand-me-downs or charity shop stuff for a while. I can do that, although I wouldn't want to again at my stage of life.

If your using BMI it doesn't take much to become classed as obese many atheletes like rugby players are classed as obese when using the BMI, just look at the size of James Haskell he's about 18 stone but I certainly wouldn't kick him out the bed!

Your friend is obviously not obese if she has a little tummy. Being overweight is not the same as being obese.
