English-style Caff
I am thinking about opening up an English-style caff serving Full English, pie & mash, eels, steak & kidney pie, Cornish pasties, fish & chips, etc.
I have been unable to find any in Australia and think that there might be a market for such a place.
Just wanted to get some opinions from other ex-pats in Australia. Any comments would be appreciated.
I would be opening it in Brisbane or Ipswich in Queensland.

He called his eatery 'Posher Nosh'......... he is a Londoner, used to knock around over here with Dave Clark's brother (as in Dave Clark Five)....... Clarky helped him fit it out. Started off great guns .............. then sales started to dwindle.
I'd advised him to buy second hand catering gear from the auction........ but he wouldn't listen? Spent top dollar fitting out what was to be the first of a 'Posher Nosh' franchise? Didn't happen though............... and 12 months later I sold the business on his behalf for a fraction of the cost to fit it out!
He now runs a hotel in Angeles City in the Philippines which he has asked me to market? If anyone is interested we will look at offers around the US$1.0 million mark?

Up against the Italians and Greeks and Turkish, who can provide excellent cheap food, and are trusted as people bringing cheap quality food. You'd be right up against it. btw Plenty of Italian owned business do the full English for about 8.00 bucks, including tea or coffee.
I doubt it would work in Melbourne, which is supposedly the restaurant capital of Aus.
Gold coast, just maybe, only because there are plenty of poms there.
