See Campbell Newman and the courier mail, reporting price increases of up to 55%.
From july 1
Checked ours, Integral ( who Origin now own
) and they have gone from (Tariff 11 31 and 33)
22 - 25 cents
13 - 17
9 - 12
and the daily service fee up 125%
I was told in May by Integral that all tariffs were set by the govt and only the discount rate varies. That now would appear not to be the case
and we are locked in a 12 month contract.
Anyone else trying to find out how you can switch without penalty, and if anyone is selling electricity at a rate where its not a bloody luxury!!

According to this they already have.
Increases of 13% 49% 55% or 125 % depending on the tariff.

Also, apparently if a consumer is in a contract, it means they can charge what they want, even if the govt caps a tariff.

Try www.switchwise.com.au
Not sure if it's been updated with the new prices and I guess you'd have to do some calculations to see if any exit fee is worthwhile. Or possible.

Just seen http://www.bigelectricityswitch.com.au/ advertised.
Worth a look - might help someone out.

It might be time to resurect the old Northern UK habit of by-passing the meter
As they use remote metering now and the man doesn't come to read it anymore, it would be quite easy to hide one behind the fuseboard.

I don't use electricity, I'm OK.
I also have a draw full of pencils so the carbon tax will not affect us.
You gotta think ahead people.

Saying that I find electricity and gas and petrol a bargain here compared to what I paid in the UK
