Had a great day today.Went down to Anzac Parade to support the old diggers.Got my 2 boys ready for the march.Off they went playing waltzing matilda up st kilda rd with the brass band and I was really proud. I'm ex RN and met up with a mate who is ex RM.Sat through the service, sang the national anthem, all round a moving and emotional day.Went into the local RSL with the wife and kids, sat having a drink and my son says"think we better go Dad" "why ? """Just heard some bloke say F**king Poms" He wouldn't tell who it was and said it wasn't directed at us.We hadn't spoken at that point ,so I guess it couldn't have been. However it makes me think,no matter how much you try to fit in,at the end of the day, your still a F**king Pom

You need to put it into perspective.
One person saying it doesn't mean everyone feels the same
Wherever you go in the world there will always be one or two knobheads. Do you really want them to get the better of you

I think it's thrown around quite a bit.Like today's incident,I'll shrug it off and forget about it,until it happens next time.I just accept it's part of being a migrant along with all the others who cop similar remarks.

I agree it was heavy losses for the ANZAC's.Here are some stats of the dead.UK21,255 FR 10,000 Aus 7,594 NZ 2,701 India 1,358 Newfoundland 49. 49 may not sound a lot but it is from such a small population.Ottomans 55,801.

As you don't know the context it was said in I really wouldn't worry about it. Considering the number of people on here who are constantly saying stuff along the lines of 'bloody Aussies' when they actually don't know who they're talking to or about, I'd say it meant nothing.

First, you have to remember that 'pom' is realy an acronym P.O.M. meaning 'Perfection Of Mankind'. How do I know this? It is self-evident, of course.
As for the 'effing' - well, as we are here to improve the gene pool, a fair bit of 'effing' has to go on amongst us perfect specimens of mankind.
So - it was a compliment, possibly with a touch of envy. A friend of mine married to a true blue Aussie, and divorced him because from day one, there was a severe drought in the 'effing' department. Her second husband is European, and she has no complaints.
