Default DVD copying question

We recently got burgled and want to copy some of our precious DVD's, incase the same thing happens again but having difficulty and hope someone can help. We have managed to do some (bought both here and in UK) but there is one British bought Channel 4 series "Green Wing' that just won't record. Each attempt (and there have been many!) just records the first few minutes of each episode. There are three episodes to a DVD, we are selecting just the programmes (ie omitting the extras etc) but still the same. The DVD's are 47gb so are big enough to take the info.
Does anyone know where we are going wrong please? Are some DVD's just not recordable, ie protected in some way?

Lots of them are protected in many different ways, and many dual layer dvd's will be bigger than 4.7gb, so I presume that you're already using some sort of software.

There are many 'backup tools' to remove encryption, and shrink dvd's to single layer versions, and I'm sure there'll be someone local to help you.

Download clone DVD and AnyDVD. Have anyDVD running while you use Clone to attempt the copy. They will only be trial versions you get but it should be OK for a couple of weeks while you do your copying. you could always buy them of course.

I'd be suprised if they didn't work for you.
