Default Dubai overnight

We fly to Dubai, have an overnight stop courtesy of Emirates and depart early the following morning with emirates to fly to Birmingham.

A few questions for you all:

1) Do we check bags all the way through or do we need to clear customs in Dubai?

2) We're taking a bottle of spirits back to UK from Aus (as a gift), are we likely to have any issues when going in to Dubai for our overnight stop?

Thanks

You bags will be checked all the way through. You do have to clear immigration in Dubai, but you go to a transit area to wait for the bus to your hotel then the bus picks you up to go back to the airport.

You're best to pack your bottle of spirits in your checked bags as you can't bring liquids through security and you don't want it to be confiscated in DXB.

There's a really nice Lebanese restaurant across from the transit hotel if you feel like going outside. When you go out the front door of the hotel turn right and it's about 100m up across the street.
