It was a nice thought, but I thought I'd be one of those owner/managers who just appointed assistants to do all the bum pinching/ hiring and firing/ organising entertainment etc, while I spent all day on my rather large boat!!

Well I did ask for a job yesterday. BUT No bum pinching, can't work school hols or weekends and I want 2 months holiday a year, free drinks and food and I'll have my own uniform when Bixies Xmas pressie for me arrives. OKAY

I agreed to have her son for half an hour every day between him coming home from the village school and her daughters coming home from the school in the next village. It was supposed to be a temporary arrangement.

Well, 4 years later I am still doing it. The kids live with her husband cos they split, her oldest daughter has moved out to live with her, and the second daughter can't be bothered half the time to collect the son. Today she wasn't at school and didn't even come out of her house 3 doors away to collect the boy. I didn't know she wasn't at school until I called mum at 4.15 to find out what was going on. He is usually collected by 10 past at the latest, and that's a good 10 mins after my boys get in.

I asked her nicely to sort it out a few weeks ago when the daughter started coming home, getting changed, going back out to the shop and then calling for the boy, and it has just got worse. I hate to fall out with friends over kids but I may just have to tell her to sort something else out after xmas.

My daughter who is at the same school as her son has been staying for judo on a thursday. She doesn't finish till 4.30, so theoretically I could have been out until then but I have had to be in for her son! Did I complain - no!
