Oooo, someone got out of bed on the wrong side today

OH wtched it on his Ipad, but with his earplugs in so I couldn't see or hear it. As DD was revising for exams this week, we are waiting until it comes on TV to watch it. Hopefully DD's friends won't spoil it for her by telling her what happens. OH knows better than to do so.

The reality is you get a maximum of 24 hours in today's world, maybe less, before any big reveal (like the one in this episode) is known/reported on. Hell, the reveal was on the front page of BBC News as a video story. TV stations need to take that into account as a matter of course - Saturday shows get shown on Sunday, and any schedulers that don't like it are let go.

BTW Neil Gaiman won a Hugo for "The Doctor's Wife" and 'let slip' that he might be writing another episode “...only a fool or a mad man would try to do it again... so I’m on the third draft.”

Episode one of the new series was Matt Smith's best one yet IMHO.
I have been missing David Tennant and not really enjoyed Matt Smith, but this episode was great

Think I read somewhere that this effort by the ABC resulted in their highest ever iView audience...so at last a broadcaster downunder gets it. If "they" want to stop piracy for TV programs, let the audience have immediate access worldwide, not 6 months later when anyone who wants to really watch has ripped it off the net already. Ch's 7, 10 and especially 9 really need to wake up to this, although they'd probably trash the whole idea by plastering ads all over the place and those stupid banners at the bottom of the screen. Within 10 years I'd say the majority of TV will come through the net.

They got 75,000 views in the first 24 hours, but this is claimed to only be 10% of the usual TV audience. My guess is they won't truly wake up till that figure hits 50%. It will be interesting to see what the iView and TV combined figure is (eg is it up overall?) and what are the figures for Ep2?

It's also interesting that downloading the 720p BT version took ~20mins 24 hours after release. There is probably a crossover point when its better to download over BT than watch iView, and its probably within about 6-10 hours of transmission.

And yes, they would probably try to plaster ads all over it - which decreases the usefulness and increases the value of the BT rips. Luckily blocking web ads has become something of a mature art...

My understanding is that the commercial channels are 'fast tracking' new episodes from the states to avoid piracy as well so they may air them the day after they have been aired overseas. Not sure there will be many of these that I want to watch anyway.

I was disappointed with it- very predictable. Matt Smith is painful to watch- not the acting, just the physical form. He looks like he has ricketts and is an old man. Get him some decent trousers for goodness sake.

I really enjoyed it, but am nagging the oh to work out how to get downton for me this weekend... Have given him loads of pointers...

His face seriously lacks changeable expression and features. He reminds me of Odo from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. It looks like as if his face has been artificially created and lacks the finishing touches to be more authentic.
