Do we like the sub forum?

Re: Do we like the sub forum?
As a Gemini I wish to repeat myself cos I can do the two lions walking down the street better then.
This is one I prepared earlier:-
Don't agree with fragmentation of the forum into specialised zones as it leads to a dilution and downgrading of the information imparted.
As an example the Lifestyle forum is not for immigration issues. Yet after obtaining a visa how many people venture into the immi forum ? Very few I suspect. That leads to a loss of valuable input.
I have helped many people with questions on sponsored visas but only because they posted in the Lifestyle forum where they are not supposed to. I have rarely ever gone into the Immi forum.
I would rather see one large Aus forum with each thread having a compulsory categorisation tag so everyone knew what it was about.
The last point is of paramount importance; the key.
If that was addressed there would be no need for the segregation that leads to inbreeding.
There maybe several pish talkers but those same people also impart a lot of knowledge. Not always noticed by the many but appreciated by the recipients nonetheless.
United we stand, divided we fall.........no, that is over dramatising but certainly a degree of downgrading IMO.

I also like hearing about what is happening in other peoples lives (i know i am just nosey) i find it a real pain to have to keep flicking in and out of both forums now and much prefered it when i could scroll down and read the postings that look interesting to me the jokes are often funny and i love reading about what is new in the news in Oz as not everything is reported in the uk and i don't bother reading News sites but if something happens it is good to know i can find it here. I have often tried to help by putting my two penneth worth in where i can even though i am not in Oz yet. So as far as i am concerned it was fine the way it was before but i will visit both forums now as i look forward to my daily dose of Pish whatever form it comes in whether it be waffle pish (i.e. the kind of Pish i talk) or total pish. Guys just keep it coming there is always someone who will say something is not relevant and have a moan but on the other hand there will always be people like me out there who will come on and read the pish that has been posted.

Re: Do we like the sub forum?
Just my opinion but bearing in mind of recent events of 'non Aussie' related threads being posted in the lifestyle forum and myself included coming in for a pasting for posting such stuff, I think this forum is a good idea.
We cant have it all ways, if we cant post non aussie stuff in lifestyle forum and by this I mean, 'Sausages' Marks and Spencers, threads about things like my Mum for instance or in someones case, their gran, which is fair enough in hindsight, I mean none are Aussie related,
Then this is the perfect place to post it.
If I write a Christmas story for BE (doubtful as Christmas is cancelled for me), then I can post it in here.
But a statue of Soapy should be in the main entrance.
