Being honest I think it offers no benefit, just have it one place and trawl through the threads you want to read and ignore the ones you don't!

Well, I am definately in a minority then. I like it in here cos we have our own pub. I have ventured into the lounge and to be honest it was ok, I didn't get mauled and there were nice people in here. It's just that I "know" the peeps in here a bit better.
Anyway, the sun is over the yardarm and I'm off for a pint. Vodka anyone?

I think "The Barbie" can be a good extension to BE. The Oz-forum is one of the bussiest forums on BE and ofttimes threads disappear to the second, or even the third, page within a few hours. Threads with titles as "I've sold my house in the UK" don't belong in the OZ Lifestyle & Culture Forum. I do realize that the OP of such a thread is ecstatic about his/her house sale and that (s)he wants to share that information with his/her friends, but such a thread doesn't contribute anything to OZ Lifestyle & Culture.
If we (= ALL the members of BE) want to keep this board as a valuable source of information to those who seek it, we HAVE to keep the relevant sections clean of such threads as I mentioned. Only then will people be able to find the information they're looking for. For this purpose was The Lounge created.
I regret that The Lounge has become what it is. Without judging people, I regret that a lot of you Aussies and Aussie-wannabees don't feel comfortable in The Lounge and don't feel welcome. Maybe I have been guilty of mistreating some of you in the past and if I have I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for that.
I do realize that it's probably to late now to change your conceptions about The Lounge and the people that "live" there. I can fully understand why you don't venture into The Lounge, but I also see the need to keep the Lifestyle & Culture Forums clean of "My-hubby-has-the-flu"-threads. For those reasons I think that The Barbie is a good addition to BE.

if it works then it will be fantastic, It would be great if the regular forum was kept to more relevant posts as easier to wade through it for info, and easier to find the light highted or unrelevant posts for people that use the forum more or just fancy a laugh/chat etc. I like both kinds of post but do think they are better seperated
