Default Digital TV

We have a foxtel box and a digital box for the freview channels. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a digibox that records at all? If you have one would you recommend?

Sorry can't answer your question, except I seem to remember Foxtel had a version where you can record like Sky +?

I wouldn't recommend a DVD recorder, I had one and it was rubbish and only lasted 12 months before carking it.

Did you bring your digibox from the UK? Would it work in Oz - I just remembered I have one in the cupboard.

Must've been a cheap crappy dvdr then. I've had a Pioneer on for a couple of years - no problems. Been hooked up to Foxtel and VCR ever since and had no dramas either.

If you have Foxtel IQ or IQ2, it record to the inbuilt HDD. If you have the standard Foxtel or Freeview, a dvdr/vcr will suffice.

I've may be worded it wrong. We have foxtel IQ but we're in Perth and on satelitte so don't get 7, 9 and 10 as well as One through foxtel. We need to switch over to the digibox to watch.

There are programmes that we'd like to watch - formula 1 for instance but can't record so it is a recordable set top box I am looking for or should I just look at a cheap DVD recorder and hook them up together?

WOW are flogging them for between $400 and $700. JB Hifi etc, would probably be around the same price. The downside is that you will need a additional dvd player to play dvds - IQ and the HDD tuners won't.

Have had that happened with my $2500 laptop. Murphy's Law for mass-produced items. You'll find that you'd get one dud every so often.

That is expensive. Can't you just watch back through the computer?

Have a look at the ProBox PBR500
Cost me about 300 bucks from
HTML Code:
MSY.com.au
Built in digital tv receiver and records to hard drive.. Foxtel I've got going in on the A/V channel so it too records onto the hard drive, it also receives wireless streaming media from my PC

Was it Toshiba? We had one that was utter shite. I refuse to buy ANYTHING from Toshiba now.

Had a Pioneer for a couple of years and it's been fine (touch wood)

I honestly can't remember - it wasn't mega expensive but it wasn't dirt cheap either.

I have a Toshiba laptop and it's been fantastic.

Like the other poster said sometimes you just get a dud...........
