Hi everyone,
My family and I have been waiting for sometime to move to Melbourne, but due to a terminally ill relative we could not make the move. Without sounding too cold he is no longer with us so we are now ready to make the big jump.
Before we do I would like to ask for all you guys who have done it before some questions on various issues and what you done or companies you used.
1: I am going to sell my house but keep the money in the UK as the exchange rates are pants. Who did you use and should I use a company to help me manage the money move to England? What bank should I use?
2: Child trust funds, can we take them with us or will the UK Gov try to keep them in the country.
3: Life insurances, did you keep them and move them to Oz or did you cancel and start up new in Oz?
4: Is it easy to move pensions over to Australia?
5: What did you wish you brought with you and what did you wish you didn't bring?
6: Any misc advice, we are moving to Melbourne, I have a job sorted and going sponsored. On arrival I am then going for full residency.
Any help would be great, I have two daughters aged 5 & 2 and this move is for them. London is not a place I want to bring my kids up in and I am not sure England is a great place either.
Many thanks for your answers.
