Utopia, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. What a shock.
Beautiful pictures. What a gorgeous animal.
You did your absolute best for him, that's for sure, and you didn't let him suffer needlessly. He would thank you for that.
Children accept death much more easily than us adults do I think.
Perhaps you might look at getting another dog once you're here and settled? There are lots of boxer rescue places which are desparate for homes for their pups.

Our dog was a Bullmastiff not sure if there are many in Australia.
At this moment in time I don't even know if I can ever look at another Bully in the same light, especially as Kerberos was the perfect dog.
Absolutely fantastic nature and brilliant with the kids.

I am sorry sorry to here your bad news.
It is the hardest thing I have ever had to do is take our dog to the vets for the last.
Get another one when you get over here, it will never replace the one you lost, but it helps.

Awful news - I guess you must take heart that he is better off not being in pain.
Maybe when you get out here think about another little dog - wont ever be a replacement but will help you start a new chapter.....

I'm looking for a mastiff myself when we move, as my dog needs a pal.

Our beloved dog has just had to be put down.
He developed Cancer.
He seemed fine but the last few days his health started deteriorating.
So this morning my husband took him down to the Vet.
They were concerned as he couldn't walk when he got there.
They referred my husband to a specialist in Roehampton.
When my husband got there. Kerberos was in so much pain.
Xrays were done and it was determined that even with Chemotherapy he would only have 6 months left.
I can't believe it!!!!
The Vet said this type of Cancer is rapid and there was nothing we could have done to prevent it nor cure it.
We have pre-booked air-pets and have organised medicals for him.
I can't believe he isn't coming with us to Aus.
I feel gutted and so does my husband the kids have grown up with him.
He is exactly the same age as my daughter and we got him a month after she was born.
She hasn't realised yet what has happened. But I think she will know something isn't right tomorrow morning when she gets up to give him breakfast and fill his water bowl.
She is only 3 and I don't really know what to say.
My husband has lost his friend and companion.
Feeling very very sad!

This is a picture of Kerberos below... he was one of the best things that ever happened to Our family and he Will be missed forever!!!

How sad for you..... My labrador is just coming up to 20 years old and we have noticed in the last week or so that she is losing weight from her rear quarters.
She does not seem to be in any pain as she is still running (yes running) around is eating well and still wants to go for a walk with our other dogs but we have decided that we have to take her to the vet and see what he suggests.
I am dreading the answer we might get ...I have had her since she was 9 months old.
My heart goes out to you and your family.

Hugs & vibes of support, so sorry he won't be coming with you on your adventure. It would be good to think that when you're there you can take a walk in the new territory in his honour & I'm sure he'll be with you in spirit to make sure you get on alright.

Aww so sorry
He was quite a young dog then, hope the sadness eases and you manage to remember all the good times, no comfort to you now but at least he's no longer in pain
