Unhappy Devastating News

Hi All,

We have just had some devastating news and today has been a nightmare.

Our beloved dog has just had to be put down.

He developed Cancer.

He seemed fine but the last few days his health started deteriorating.

So this morning my husband took him down to the Vet.

They were concerned as he couldn't walk when he got there.

They referred my husband to a specialist in Roehampton.

When my husband got there. Kerberos was in so much pain.

Xrays were done and it was determined that even with Chemotherapy he would only have 6 months left.

I can't believe it!!!!

The Vet said this type of Cancer is rapid and there was nothing we could have done to prevent it nor cure it.

We have pre-booked air-pets and have organised medicals for him.

I can't believe he isn't coming with us to Aus.

I feel gutted and so does my husband the kids have grown up with him.

He is exactly the same age as my daughter and we got him a month after she was born.

She hasn't realised yet what has happened. But I think she will know something isn't right tomorrow morning when she gets up to give him breakfast and fill his water bowl.

She is only 3 and I don't really know what to say.

My husband has lost his friend and companion.

Feeling very very sad!

This is a picture of Kerberos below... he was one of the best things that ever happened to Our family and he Will be missed forever!!!

Sorry to hear about your dog. Be honest with your little girl, can you take your pet to an animal cemetary? or bury it in a special place.
When i was young i lost my dog and my parents got permission to bury him in our local park and we planted a tree in his honour. i still go and see that tree when ever im in my old home village. It helped us as kids.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of beloved dog. We lost three english setters in 18 months, 16, 15 & 11years 8 months. There is nothing anybody can say to you all to make you feel better i know, the emptiness i feel every day, my dogs where such a big part in my life and i miss them so much. Over time you will feel better but you will not forget the love and joy your dog gave you.

I have sent you a pm,a poem that might help you with your loss.

Utopia,

I'm so, so sorry to hear this.
I have a 15 month cocker spaniel who we are planning on taking with us and I love him like I would a child of my own if we had any. He's definately "my baby". You will be so sad for quite a while and it'll be more difficult explaining to the kids. Perhaps if you tell them how sick he was they will understand better. My friend had to have her dog put down recently and she told her two kids how ill the dog was and how he was better now that he was fast asleep.

As you have so much love for animals I hope in time that you will give another dog that love and care.

Please know that I am really sad to hear your news utopia but in time it will get easier. I believe that he will accompany you on the journey that lies ahead for you anyway so he's not gone completely in my eyes. Look forwards utopia. x

Much love darlin',

*pearly*

Sorry to hear your news. We had to have our King Charles put to sleep, we'd had her for 10years, its so sad. Your dog becomes part of the family and it is a loss when they have gone. No idea what you can say to your daughter.

all the best
