...and if he moves south of the Murray he will also have lots of:

" dark, damp, dreary, dismal, Australian winter weather" to look forward to.......to coin a phrase

But its warm rain isn't it? Does it go on for days and days on end?

Sometimes it does. My friend had the misfortune of trying to organise the writers festival in Byron....last year I think. After cancelling the first day they spent the rest of it digging trenches and trying to source wooden boards to cover the ground. Actually it went on for weeks and weeks - I remember them talking about how everything was turning mouldy.

I wouldn't say 'warm' but it's not bad compared the horizontal sleet the Pennines used to serve up from time to time.

It's freezing here, and my conservatory is a whopping 9 degrees! The wooden flooring is so cold!

! I was always under the impression that the summer rain in SE Qld was a bit of an event - a relief - a quick thing that livened up a summer's afternoon... and that you could still get your washing dry if it was outside..

rains most days in summer....in a normal year.

....and it comes down in torrents often accompanied by huge hailstones.

Last Summer (Nov-Jan) Brisbane had 31 day out of 91 days with 1mm or more rain.
Total rain was 466.6mm

But 322mm of that fell over just 8 days, with the two heaviest days being:
19/11/2008 77.2mm
20/11/2008 79.4mm

On the 20th November 36mm (half of the days rain) fell in just 10 minutes. !

Well Brisbane is where we're planning to live, so those stats are very interesting ABCD. Thanks for that.
