Re: The Cricket Thread (...and other sport)
The difference is that by not enforcing the follow on, we gave our bowlers a break between innings so they had time to recover and prepare for the task of bowling England out over two days on a pitch that's giving very little to bowlers.
We also gave ourselves an extra 132 runs as a buffer, which is just as well considering England have removed so much of the deficit. Without the extra they'd only have ~150 to find today.
But without a break. If I told you to work a 24-hour day instead of 8 hours per day over 3 days, would you take it? After all, it's still the same number of hours—so what's the difference?

So - everyone doing their rain dances today?
[yeah yeah - it'd be an appalling turn of events if England were gifted an undeserved draw due to rain, and it'd take a miracle to get enough rain to not have the 1 hours play the locals need to polish it off...still it would make me giggle]

Broad is hitting sixes. Could England actually be going for an historic win?

Maybe, but Broad is now out so probably not going to happen
Siddle to Broad, OUT, hooked again and this time Broad puts it right down deep square leg's throat how awfully typical for this batting performance. That is an utter miserable stroke. Banged in again and Broad falls for it hook, line and sinker, slogging it straight to Lyon who barely has to move coming in from the rope. Pretty pathetic that from Broad

As a fast bowler himself how the hell does Broad fall for that. In the context of the game and what was needed today that was an act of such stupidity it really beggars belief.

Another short ball, another hook shot ...... as cricinfo says, you know how it works
Siddle to Prior, OUT, short and hooked again and, well, well, well can you Adam and Eve it, picks out deep-backward square leg. England, deary me. Harris the catcher this time. There's no point describing the wicket because you know the drill by now surely

Series over, Australia win back the ashes. Well they will have probably by the 3rd day afternoon at Perth.
Melbourne and Sydney tests just dead rubbers now.

Good batting surface - England batsmen fail
Batsmen will eventually work Johnson out but right now to owns England
Good to see Prior get some runs - will give him some confidence
Root is an impressive young player
Cook, FIGJAM, Bell fail again - big, big problem for England
Broad petrified
Australia are bowling well as a unit
I can't see England coming back from here

And don't make it out to be a Clarke f**k up - Cook would probably have done the same
