The Aussie bowlers are really struggling with the length here. They want to pitch it up to get the swing but are getting picked off. Pitch too slow to pitch it short. Need to find that happy length and it aint happening.

Yeah. I made the call early on that he was going to get hammered. Our Tennis friend poo pooed that. That said, he will do better on the harder pitches later on like the Oval

It's annoying here in England with the full tv coverage being on Sky. The Ashes should be on free-to-air.

We get it on free to air, Channel 9. The ads are annoying but they've got to earn a crust

I should be watching the next one on Channel 9 then.

Get it right, I questioned your opinion that Johnson would not be played in the first test (you suggested Harris, Starc and Hazlewood). I did not comment on how well he would do at all and in fact if you read back you will see that I believe the other Mitchell - Starc - is going to have a bigger influence on the whole series. Wait until 2nd innings and a few more tests before declaring Mitch J down and out. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a few runs today and gives a contribution.

Wrong ..... I said I feared the selectors would choose Johnson over the other 3. But nice try again. Brush up on your cricket and reading.

You do your reading and quote where I said Johnson would be hammered/not hammered.

Eh? What you on about? I said Johnson got hammered. Are you disputing that now? Getting the tonne for 0 wickets is a hammering no matter how one eyed you are.

Clarify yourself first before you try the deflection trick to get yourself out of trouble.

Where on earth did I state that?

Bottom line is mate, you can deflect all you want but you said Johnson is a first pick which is fine if you are in Oz or SA. This is not always the case in England. Is what it is. Can't you see how the conditions differ?

What's your synopsis on Johnson's bowling?

I certainly believe he is a worthy contender for the 4 quicks though. He's just not at the top of his game right now. Johnson is pretty awesome on dry hard surfaces that promote pace. On the slower swinging jobs you've got to pick the guys who have the swing. If you've ever played cricket (obviously not) you would know that as a batsman you would rather face pace than swing, any day of the week. That's why you need to pick swingers which is Harris, Starc and Hazelwood, no matter how fit Harris is, he's a grafter and he is good in England.

So the TMS team just jinxed England by starting to talk about cricket instead of continuing their discussion on seagull droppings
