1) It's very hot and humid - clothing wise don't worry about bringing anything remotely warm. You and the family should move into a sauna for a week to acclimatise!
2) Cars are likely to be pricey due to the remoteness. We would have brought one in our container if we had known....
3) Never go out without deet - bitey things rule.
4) There are some nice restaurants on the pier and in Cullen Bay
5) Crocodiles are amazing - go to the Adelaide River jumping crocs tour - very impressive!
6) Kakadu is beautiful
7) There are some oddballs around in Darwin but generally it was friendly and relaxed
8) Great skies and lightning in the Wet season
9) Easy to go to Bali for a holiday.

Thanks ..... been looking online at cars and thinking about how n where to buy! Liking the sound of the heat, however I expect at some point I will moan!!! (Note to self! Do not moan!!!)
Crocs are freaking me a bit at the mo, but like anything, I suppose its about being really sensible!
Thanks for all the info!

I'm in Cairns at the moment but may be considering a return as we can't get suitable jobs here in Qld. We were in Darwin at Tipperary Waters for a while a couple of years ago...

We' ve been up here about 18 months. The dry is due to start 1st May. Been getting cooler at night and we've also also a lot of rain!
We've not seen a croc in the wild yet. Got a boat and go out fishing a fair bit. Seen quite a few traps in the harbour but never with one in it! Just our luck because they seem to catch a few!
We're in Palmerston and have 2 children at school. Let me know what info you need

What is Palmerston like? Any info you have, would be great to know......we are currently looking at rentals, wanted to try and get one before arriving in Darwin, but that might not be possible......looking around Durack and Farrar.....
So when you say cooler at night....roughly how cool is that? Being really not in the know, is the dry season much cooler than the wet?
Sorry loads n loads of questions.....how do you like NT itself?
Many thanks Seaangel!

Crocs are no worries. Just get a few little mongrel dogs like the locals... When one goes missing just be aware... If two go missing, you better tread carefully... simple!
