Cool Spider ... and some other creatures seen "out back"

Couple of shots here for you. Baby huntsman we found living underneath the lid of the compost bin (gave me a shock, I can tell you), and I think a golden web or orb web spider in QLD. This one had spun his web across the trail and we nearly walked straight into it, and as for size, he was about 8 or 9 inches across!

A couple of years ago I was walking home from the pub on a hot humid night. I walked under a low hanging palm tree and next thing I knew, I couldn't see anything because there were bat wings around my face.
And if that's not bad enough, the damn thing licked my ear ! At least, I think that's what it did.

I love the wildlife here too but not the creepy crawlies, they give me the heebie jeebies!
Went up to Australia Zoo on Sunday - wow, the crocoseum is brilliant! Just a shame Steve Irwin is no longer with us, his picture is all over the zoo and it's really sad.

OMG, I'm so jealous!! I would love bats around my house, they are like we angel mice! The spiders on the other hand . . . I tend to introduce them to the sole of my shoe!

Not seen snakes yet. Not scared of snakes, so not too bothered, it's just spiders that I can't handle. We had a few big ones in an old house in Glasgow, but nothing compared to the ones here!

See, now that's the sort of visitors I want. We used to have squirrels that came into the kitchen, back in Glasgow. I miss the fuzzies in the back garden - think you could package me up one and send it over to WA?

Yeah we had lots of big spiders (i hate even saying or typing that word) in Port Glasgow where we lived, as we lived up at the back, basically in the country on the road to Kilmacolm, so as you could imagine, farms and stuff.
