I can change a plug - and am willing to learn. What are my chances?

Yes. Every state has its 'local' beers, but I don't think you'll find Fosters on sale in many places. Tooheys is a very popular mass-market beer - I particularly like Tooheys Extra Dry.

We get lots of those comments from people that know we are going to Oz. Most of them have never even been there. We have and have also done lots of research so I hope we are pretty prepared.

That is the case with many new developments. Older blocks are sometimes bigger.

There is no rule that says you have to buy a large house on a postage stamp. Many Australians don't.

True. Most couldn't care.

I'm glad its not like Neighbours, I don't think I would have come otherwise. Endless interior shots and crap coffee bars.

My favourite aspect of neighbours is the way they can just step in to the kitchen area of an open plan house and talk about the people in the living room area, but those people can't hear what they're saying! Am most disappointed to find this is not the case....

(Also how people in cafes order large milkshakes then walk away, leaving them untouched... I haven't seen anyone do that yet)

Misconception: We sit out every night having a barbi and drinking beer.

Actually we sit inside. the rest is true

I've been really pleased with the beers here.

Great varieties that really suit the climate.

No, I can knock Australia for lots of things (most of them listed in the first post) but definitely not beer (as long as you stay away from Fosters, Tooheys, Carlton (in all its forms) etc.)

Yea, agreed. Tooheys is a work-a-day beer though. I treat myself to Boags or Blue Tongue for special occasions.

So do I but I find it a very expensive way to clean my pans

Hub saw one just outside Bunnings on Marmion last night on his way home from work. Of course it was road kill, but kangaroo none the less.

Er, James Squire Porter, if you'd like a recommendation

Oh and common misconceptions - er, all Aussies are no-worries laid-back people hooked into an 'outdoors' lifestyle. You get as many anti-social ****ers here as anywhere else.

And yes, reader, some of them ARE Poms

Go The Ma-roons.
