Making our family Christmas cake today
One of those recipes that was my Dads mothers and her mother and her............. comes from notes made in the late 1800's and has been made by every generation since.
Got the raisins and sultanas soaking in a little bit of tea water and will be in the oven shortly before maturing for a few months with a feed of more booze every few weeks (just a small cap full drizzled in to pin pricks).
My son will be stood on a stool and making a wish as he stirs it shortly just as I used to do 30 odd years ago
