Chicks leaving the nest......
#16
Both of mine left and their rooms had been re-assigned as something else within the week. Took about 48 hours of "OMG we are empty nesters" before the peace and quiet and freedom to do what we wanted, when we wanted in our own home became something to be cherished.
Now, one of them lives in the granny flat with his wife and two kids - talk about bloody cuckoos, sometimes I really resent them and their intrusion in our lives (not at all charitable, me) but they think they are doing wonderful things for us, involving us in the raising of their kids! I am thinking of leaving home.

I think I might move home again now I've finishing at uni.
Much thinky things inside my head, to MSc or not to MSc…that is the questions
.
Don't worry mothers your children will call, they will need more money sooner or later.

My oldest has come back about 3 times in emergency situations and caused real issues at our place. That;s one of the reasons I'm going to sell up and go "on the road" when our youngest moves out. Either that or move out of Melbourne to a Bush town. I dont think the kids will be so keen to live even short term with us outside of Melbourne.. ... Which is probably a necessity now, to release the funds I've poured into our gaffe in the last few months.
So what you going to do with your newly acquired "freedom" Soapy and others.... I s'pose that retirement idea is on my mind because when my Son is 18 in 5 years... I'll be 61... so his 21 = My 64. I reckon I'll be champing at the bit.
Can anyone think of the main pitfalls for selling up everything and going on the road with no home address ? I just see no responsbility and cheap living costs for a few years... then back to a new base and establish somewhere else.

LOL.... Not sure how I will go. I've got Echuca firmly in my sights as it's close to Melbourne... has free buses (courtesy between the clubs) and has a decent cheap and plentiful train service to Melbourne which includes a Melbourne Metcard. Houses are less than half the price up there compared to where I live.

Whilst we are at it... What about old broilers coming home to roost... Grey nomads join us after the footie season FOREVER.... Should be ok at first, coz they Re doing the winnibago round australia thing first and I've told them NOT to come back til they have spent every last cent of our inheritance.... So should be good for a while, whilst their health holds up...
Then it'll get interesting...
But seeing as we've got mumbles for the rest of our natural... Doesnt really matter does it...
We grew up with our grandparents living in one wing of our house... But THAT was a house plenty big enough not to bump into us unintentionally for days if necessary.... May be a bit different with our house being smaller...
Only time will tell.

I can't flipping wait.
Having said that, I'm missing the eldest teenagers while we're here in the UK.
Oh hang on.. no I'm not.

love this thread.
this is the first time we have had an empty. before we always had at least one, then one would return.
as to what we are doing now.
not a lot. the house is great. nothing to clean, don't need to shop every day, the bread and milk keep going off and theres always look roll
