I think it's time we had a cheese thread. I love cheese and find the cheese here very good, especially some of the Tassie stuff. I do miss some of the spectacular cheeses to be had from Europe though. Many can be had here but cost big cojones!! I saw a chunk of Papillion Roquefort in a deli in Toombul for $132 yesterday! Couldn't have been bigger than 2 kg, probably less.

Re: The Cheese thread
After all my gallbladder woes, I am finally recovered and I can happily state that cheese causes me no problems whatsoever (apart from weight gain of course). My Dr said there are no dietary restrictions at all.
We had a blue Tassie cheese when the family were over, that we now refer to as stable cheese - it smelt just like dirty farmyards but tasted yummy! |
Re: The Cheese thread
Full cream Bulgarian fetta is my fave or Haloumi in a toasted sandwich with sliced tomato - sweet as.
Years ago in England, I tasted a gorgeous cheese, it was pink in colour, looked like tinned corned beef and had a smoky bacon flavour. If anyone knows what it might have been then I'd love to know too.......?? |

Could it have been an old packet of smokey bacon crisps that somebody had thrown up in after a night out on the Rose wine and left out in the sun? |
