The Cheese thread
I think it's time we had a cheese thread. I love cheese and find the cheese here very good, especially some of the Tassie stuff. I do miss some of the spectacular cheeses to be had from Europe though. Many can be had here but cost big cojones!! I saw a chunk of Papillion Roquefort in a deli in Toombul for $132 yesterday! Couldn't have been bigger than 2 kg, probably less.

Re: The Cheese thread
Mmmmm cheese.. Went to Mudgee for Easter Weekend and got some fabulous cheeses from http://www.highvalley.com.au/. Finished the jar of chilli feta we bought there yesterday and I wanted to lick my plate - it was just soooo good.
Also got a fab vintage cheedar which was so tasty and their blue cheese so so stinky it was just gorgeous. Also got a cheese plate at this winery - https://www.loganwines.com.au - which I think actually included some Tassie cheese and it was delish. |

With blue, the stinkier the better! I had a mate who worked in a good deli in town and we used to get some cheeses past the sell by! I remember one Gorgonzola that stunk the house out for 3 weeks but it was fabulous!

I was looking at the price of Gruyere the other day, it was a bit expensive $40kg. I stuck with Jarlsberg at $28 kg. |

In 2005 that Roquefort was £17.69 per Kg ($45) in Sainsbury's.
