Nothing special - it's this cleanskin Shiraz from Liquorland/First Choice:

$5.50 a bottle (less if you buy 6). It's a fantastic Shiraz, which gets great reviews and is an absolute bargain for the money
The single malt though was epic - an 18 year old Cardhu. I bought it about 10 years ago and only recently cracked it open. It's just perfect this time of year, on a cold and rainy night, feet up in front of the log burner, with The Clash on the stereo

Whisky sounds good. Not a big whisky guy as it doesn't last long around my place. However did get presented with a Nikka Whisky for fathers day. Had a couple last night and it was very good. First time trying the Japanese stuff.

I cracked a bottle of Hennessy cognac last night and we had a couple of those - beautiful. It was the end to a really nice father's day - especially as my son, who is away doing his basic training in Wagga Wagga, called for a chat (which is not easy as their phones are taken away from them for all but 30 minutes a week!)

Eh?
Unlike you, I can enjoy music without getting involved with the bullshit. I have the ability to separate the art from the politics. Strummer was an incredible artist and musician. The fact he was also a raging socialist is his issue and means sod all to me - different strokes for different folks in the great big melting pot of life
The music of my youth was all like this - working-class Brits raging against the world and the man. Great stuff
Do try and open your mind to the world that's not in your narrow-minded head

Can't be that nicer suburb if the so called professionals are on the cheap stuff? If you had said your suburb was full of coke then quality of your suburb might be believable. PS, Sydney is a big place, where I live, plenty of coke but no ice. Never known anyone to have consumed ice.
Ah right, I see why you have the blinkers on and assume whats going on in Perth is going on in the rest of Australia. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-06-...orld/101195020

Real estate agents have told me it is everywhere and checking out other areas if drug free has proved a very difficult task indeed. The blinkers are on those that fail to see what's going on under their noise, either through ignorance or deliberate.
I would say drugs and the result it is having across the board is the single biggest issue in Australia today.

He wasn't really a great artist (some albums simply were not that good ,but his strength was in his political message and that being totally against in general what you claim to stand for. Bit like me claiming while hate the message, totally adored the rhetoric of Hitler speeches. I lived in London at the time and was very familiar with such bands. The message though was anti racist, anti-fascist anti-apartheid . First time I have witnessed you allying with Left . Hard to separate their music from politics and they made their politics very clear. Can't get much more Left than Red Wedge.
I can appreciate art, for art's sake if I choose to. You can't
Deal with it and move on

Except the power was in the words and very symbolic and political , the gigs full of leftists and punk anarchists. I liked their gigs, just surprised you did knowing your worldview.

One of the best things about being a libertarian is that you don't often fit the percieved view, but we all know how blinkered, narrow-minded and intolerant the left is - mainly to those who don't agree with their bullshit

Now this will come as a shock to you so better sit down. It's just that some things in life are not about money. Some things involve integrity and respect. (they are words in the English language)

Are you trying to educate me on money when one of your favourite topics is about how you can't afford to buy in the area you want to live? Wow.

You know what they say. Behind every big wall there is an ill-conceived fortune or words to that effect. Not about earning money of course. It's about wealth . I've plenty of examples of what's going on in my manor.
