Dunno what all the fuss is about!! I actually like British Expats not sure why people are leaving in droves. Why can't people be free to be members of any other BE forum (and theres loads?) I know I am but always come back here because of the great people
Always had good advice when needed and a good laugh too - so come on people come back (you know who you are!!!) I'm getting lonely!!!

The amount of help this forum (and the sub forums) has provided over the years has been huge for many people. Not just information wise but also emotionally. People have got support in relationship break ups/ bereavements / homesickness etc. Some good people have organised and others carried on meet ups etc which have helped many all through here. This place is , in parts, all what is good about the internet (even allowing for the distinct lack of porn).

So there is some down time for backups and other stuff there is no need to go in to, so what? big deal. The essence of BE remains. And long may it.

I like BE to!!!!I think people are getting a fed up of the winter so they are taking it out on BE. Anything could tip them over the edge.

Here here. I wish to goodness there was a BE when we were going through the migration process. I wish to goodness there was the internet. All we had was a monthly paper with a 'pen friends' corner.

There's so much more to BE than just migration advice/issues though and I for one enjoy it for the most part, but then I don't just stay in one forum, so perhaps that makes a difference. I have chatted with 'friends' from all over the world and learned so many interesting things about different countries and for that I am grateful. So I say, "Thank you to Sue & Paul for their foresight and enterprise in getting this site together and sticking with it through thick and thin."

Dittto. I've been a member of quite a few, stopped on some but that's because I forgot the passwords and then lost the links and never bothered finding them again Just engage some of the new people who may still be only using the Immi site - they'll be along soon.

i have to say that we have found BE to be brilliant..

its soooooo good to know there are other people going through the process and sharing the same anxieties..

and its brilliant to be able to read the "update" threads....

They have gone to another forum set up by a previous member on here. It's a good site, but why they have to abandon this one in the process is trivial to be honest.

I agree but not everyone has the balls to venture into the Lounge. The people in there terrify the life out of me and I will not go in no matter how tempted I have become to respond to a particular thread.

I can't see why all forums can't co-exist.
