Wouldn't dream of paying someone to come round and clean it and don't remember seeing a van around doing it for anyone else, unless they're pretending to wash dogs - stacks of them about.

I agree. In the UK our rubbish was collected fortnightly and it caused so many environmental problems - flies, rats, foxes etc that the local council had to revert to weekly.

Here in Adelaide we don't have many problems with our bin becoming infested. However the Council are threatening to change to fortnightly collections. Can you imagine that in 40 degree heat.
