Talking The Biggest Loser

So, did anyone watch it? What did you think?

Couldn't believe the 4km race and the guy who just couldn't go on - I assumed he was near the end but he hadn't even made it to 500 metres before collapsing. Very sad.

Is it me or did they lose far more weight in this first week than in previous series?

Yes they did on screen - but they don't weigh them on a weekly basis - sometimes its a couple of weeks, sometimes its 10 days - its only edited to make it look weekly (and the contestants talk about 'the last week' to encourage this view)

Also, they did their initial weigh in immediately - the last couple of years I've watched they haven't done that.

I don't think Shannon will win - he hasn't got Bob's outlook and determination.

I'm doing well - only 2 of the women weigh less than me this year.

I assume the 1st night weigh in was because they are editing out the contestant that was accused of having kiddie porn...

Made me feel better this year because I am lighter than all of them!! Last year I wasn't, the series really helped me last year and I am hoping it will do it again this year to lose the last 30kg.

Ouch.. presumably why it was such a weird show last night! We couldn't understand why they skipped the whole week when they usually make such a meal of it!

Thats fantastic NB!

It motivates me well in the beginning, but I slide too easily

Good luck with your remaining weight loss

Have you tried the book The Gabriel Method - my OH read this and lost 12 kilos - we eat pretty healthy anyway but he does loads of business lunches and dinners and it made him think about his food more. I eat breakfast late, after training, but he never ate breakfast at all. He started to have a shake every morning, eat fruit and nuts as snacks and make healthier choices when he went out - the weight just fell off him without him having to 'diet'.

Yeah - I have that.

I like to think I just have a slow metabolism

(Rather than I'm just too lazy and not really motivated enough even though I hate being this weight)

I decided not to watch this year because I got so hooked last time and it annoyed me having to watch every night (I did have a peek though - Shannon )

Well, that explains why it seems so out of synch! I guess that's why we haven't seen them training much because the kiddie porn person was in the room. Hopefully it will get back to normal soon.

I'm going for the Dads

And also explains the second eviction being tonight!

I guess as the 'other couple' were evicted in the second week, things will now resume a normal Biggest Loser format once more.

Not seen any of it, didn't realise it had started but I did read that they were not showing any section that had the (alleged) porn guy in. Must be confusing to anyone who doesn't know about the case And kind of unfair to whoever his 'partner' is.

We'd not heard of this porn guy. We've been watching the programme and wondering why the format is so different this year - two weigh-ins in two days. But we just assumed that they'd decided on a new format to make it different to prior years. "Porn guy" would explain it!
