What is it about dog owners that have blinkers on as far as their killer dogs are concerned?

Years ago, the local cop had two Dobermans. In a country town the station was attached to the residence, so the dogs used to run in the yard. Never went to the station unless I knew the dogs were a) tied up,or b) the Sargeant was around. One time I went there, he was on the verandah, but the dogs were still loose, so I still talked to him over the fence....

Dunno.. I really don't get it.

I have a reasonable sized dog, but he's basically a Pointer, so it's not in his nature to attack... but these things are just insane to keep as family pets... and I see plenty of other huge mastiff type monsters being walked round the streets that I'm convinced would be illegal in the UK... and should be here.

I know, they bloody terrify me. I avoid walking down certain streets where I know demon dogs prowl.

I watch the 8stone woman from three doors down take her, at least, 10stone Rottie for a walk on a daily basis... no way would I want to get in it's way 'cos there is no way she could handle it if it decided it to attack.

My brother had a Rottie, so vicious that he would lick you to death. Only time he ever went nuts was when there were fireworks, and when two car thieves decided to use the yard as a shortcut to evade the police....

They cleared a 6ft paling fence and preferred the cops to Rocky....:D

The only time he hurt my niece, was when she ran around a corner, bounce off him and then hit the corner of the under-house garage....

Don't get a wireless system, unless you want to buy the one we bought for our rental and still have....... They are fickle.

We do use Chubb back to base ($27 a month - much cheaper than UK) and get a reduction in house insurance for it. It's good cos you tell them when you'll be away so they get the police round sharpish. Luckily ours was a false alarm but reassuring.
