It depends if the newspaper articles are simple opinion pieces or quote easily referenced unadulterated statistics...these are the latter. What I found interesting on a quick google was that the reporting was the same across the newspapers favoured by both BE's 'far right' and 'socialist' factions...so what propaganda is being peddled and by whom? Even the DM which never misses an opportunity to run the country down reports the same.

Who? Where? It's not the UK I know.....and not the one my wife just returned from this morning.....she is now keener than ever to return for good.
She obviously didn't see the bits you claim are everywhere....I didn't last year when I was over either.....or when I Lived there for most of of my life

Something I notice about many of the British Expats in Australia is it has refugees from both Thatcher's and Browns Britain. Only the ones who could stomach both ends of the spectrum stayed put in aptly-named Blighty.

Really? I don't think many of them left because they hated the place...the vast majority did it for positive reasons in my experience.

I've often heard it said that lots of British shop stewards emigrated to Australia to escape Thatcher's Britain. I've even met a few who claim they were Thatcher's refugees. Others escaped (and still do so today) from the Britain which Blair and Brown permanently transformed.

Wasn't the news this week full of how crime is at it's lowest level for 30+ years? Not sure why your 'facts' are the exact opposite of all the statistics? Perhaps they're not actually 'facts' after all, and just your opinion? Which you're more than entitled to air, but stating it as fact is disingenuous at best.
My opinion is that the UK isn't in a mess. But I'm lucky enough to live in a lovely part of it, and don't recognise your description of it. Particularly your sweeping statements about all UK schools being awful, which is odd as my children's school is beyond amazing.
