I often drive past the XXXX brewery in Milton and I don't ever remember even smelling hops from the place.

God knows what they concoct it from

I even do home brew, with real malt and hops! But my point is, I can't be arsed when I'm busy. And XXXX Gold tastes fine to me.

So I get annoyed at hippocrites who slag me off, for drinking XXXX gold when they then say ******* Speckled hen is the be end all of everything.

If you want my really honest, honest opinion, the best, sort of affordable beer is Hoegaarden. Its a very nice Weiss beer, BUT, its too strong and it gives me the shits.

You didn't want to hear that last bit

I never said Old Speckled hen is anything special.

It is a poor imitation of the proper beers Morlands used to brew before they were taken over and closed down.

Hoegaarden is OK...overpriced and overhyped but OK.

....but stuff like XXXX is simply awful and I really don't know how anyone would pay good money for it.
