comedy satire or perverted fetish?

This "article" is clearly one or the other .... as some one who has professionally worked with adults who have been the victims of ritualistic abuse such as described here- and which is not uncommon oin other cultures even today especially in America ... I find this article offensive in the extreme - I have also worked with abusers who can't see that their pro active discipline methods are anything other than normal behaviour ...

This kind of 'article' will either.... amuse the smug liberals who "know" that it is satire, re inforce the ideas of proactive disciplinarians or turn on the perverts...

None of which are acceptable reasons for writing this dross.

A reasonable debate about smacking I'll participate in, but this one is out of the ballpark as far as I am concerned...:thumbdown:

Its just there is a real and present danger that some of those who read this won't get the Tom and Jerry ness of it and if reinforces their belief that they are right in their child discipline approaches, not everyone has the intellect to see this for what it is... particularly in the US where these scarey people are alive and well and living in the southern states.... and northern for that matter...

you know the kind of people who justify there child abusing acitivities by say things like, how I discipline my children is between me and my God?

Satire is a great British intstitution, but I've yet to meet to many ordicary americans who get it...

Yes, and I agree with you on all points actually, I am sure there are people out there who think this is fairly standard... Those who choose to discipline children like that are abusers.

I did get that it was meant to be black and satirical, but I wouldn't call it humour and it didn't make me laugh.

There are some real extreme, sick people out there and if they are reading shit like this they may not take it as a joke, they might just think that it's the right thing to do. OOOHHhh it makes me shudder to think about it.

Yes, this is fine. The bible states that if a parent doesn't beat their child they don't love their child.
Feeling good about it means that your satisfied with the way you are helping them find God. Keep it up.
If you ever feel like a good beating there is always something that you child has done wrong, don't be afraid to just simply say "you know what you did!" when the child asks you why they are being punished.
It is, after all, for their own good.

prehaps we are all doing the writer an injustice in ASSuming that it is a failed attempt at satire, shouldn't some one contact appropriate agency? child protection/ police?

If the writier of the article has kids they are at risk...

I just think that if it was explicit child porn we would be taking action, whereas the implicit pornagraphic nature appears to be ignored....
