Have to say though that some parents find Harry Potter offensive if they are religious.
The last catholic school my daughter was at wouldn't take them to the theatre to see Roald Dahl's 'The Witches' even though they went to the theatre every other year.

Definitely a spoof article.

It's an American liberal site, deliberately written in such a way as to antagonise American conservatives.

This is one "controversial" subject that I will never be swayed on.

Parents do NOT have the "right" to smack their children any more than they have the "right" to hit each other.

Buzzy

I'm not inclined to hit kids, but I wouldn't judge the occasional slap. I think my wife might have done one 'pulled' slap on our daughter. But we use the laundry as naughty corner - thank God for supernanny.

Have to admit, I got smacked. Also got kicked up the stairs by my old man a few times. This was back in the 80s when he wore soft-soled DMs so it wasn't too bad.

I do remember my old dear dragging me around by the scruff of the neck and banging my head on the carpet sometimes. She denies it now of course the crafty old devil.

When I was a kid, I always used to laugh whenever they used to report IRA ''beatings'' on telly.

I always imagined these terrorists lining up outside the library with newspaper down their trousers in preparation for bending over a chair ....6 of the best.

LOL - Of course it's a joke. It's slightly black, but it's point is getting at those 'christians' who would choose to follow what the bible says when it comes to discipline.
If we followed what the bible said, we'd be stoning gay people to death too... and prostitutes... and people who like to wear purple.

But surely people who like to wear purple should be stoned, or am I old fashioned?

That's an absolutely preposterous statement!

Stoning's too good for 'em.

In that case, how come Jesus stopped a mob from stoning to death a woman "caught in adultery"?

Cos he was a nice guy.

Special dispensation for being the son of God.

Thought you knew this stuff. :D

Here we go again. Only 'believers' quote scripture as matter of fact.

You should know by now that the majority of posters on here are more inclined to question that question than answer it, may we burn in hell for eternity.

Big.

That site is similar to www.theonion.com (which I think is hilarious btw), American satire makes me lol.

Check out their mission statement:

Adequacy Mission Statement
There are a number of people who have opinions that don't quite fit the norm. Because of this, they aren't welcome in many places. This is where they exercise their right to speak, where the dreams of tomorrow take flight today.

This site is aimed at middle class white male professionals - the sort of people who have been sadly sidelined by today's victim culture, and the domination of homosexuals, geeks, amputees, racial minorities and Canadians, who have all risen up with their discrimination laws and 'equality' to sadly control the media agenda.

These people are not welcome here. This is where we make a stand. This is where we fight back.

This site is also squarely aimed at the marginalised of society -- homosexuals, geeks, amputees, racial minorities and Canadians, who remain in a state of oppression, kept down by the dominant white male patriarchy and by insufficiently rigorous 'discrimination' laws and the corporate media.

These people are welcome here. This is where we make a stand. This is where we fight back.

Controversial opinions, passionately held. We Are Adequacy.org.

Of course its a wind up :p. The quote above gave it away, and made laugh to, reminds me of when my Dad used to say he'd skelp me just in case I was thinking about doing anything bad (he was joking too).
